Kiev star is by far the most popular and has better coverage and connections, MTC ranks in the middle while Kiev LIFE has the cheapest local and international packages but suffers from bad coverage and many dropped calls.
You can buy SIM cards for all these operators from almost any kiosk in Kiev and topping up the credits is a simple scratch card purchase and code entry. Alternatively you can use the automatic paystations but some Russian or guesswork is required.
Apartments
Due to the high price of Kiev hotels, renting short stay apartments has become a very popular way of staying in Kiev. prices are roughly 1/3 the price of hotels and almost all offer similar services like laundry and concierge style services. With competition running high to win your custom, you can now get a downtown, fully modern apartment for about $100 per night. Many come with jacuzzis and free wi-fi thrown in to the rate.
There are a number of very reputable companies offering short term rentals. 1 is called www.conciergeinkiev.com and another we can recommend is www.kievaccommodation.com/. Both are run with western service methods in mind ensuring their customers are happy and will return.
